YSEALI Bootcamp 2019 focused on issues relating to sustainable development, education, civic engagement and social entrepreneurship.

The two day Boot Camp hosted across 8 different locations in Malaysia brought together 400 participants to discuss and contribute to the solutions to current challenges faced by communities in the country.

The program successfully empowered 16 impact organizations that received funding to bring their ideas to life! Each location was partnered with two NGO’s from within the community. The participants were tasked with finding solutions to the issues these NGO’s faced.

The program inspired and empowered leadership skills among youths in Malaysia, to be able to solve their own local challenges.

The Bootcamp Themes

To enable participants to kick-start their projects, finalists received the opportunity to implement their solutions via a matching grant program and mentorship by the project team and partnering impact organizations. NGOs and social enterprises will be introduced during the program, with the aim of providing a platform for participants to collaborate and solve a problem together with local heroes who have been in the industries.

The solutions to these challenges were  aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we merely borrow it from our children." - Native American proverb

"Education is the most powerful weapon that can change the world." - Nelson Mandela

"Do not ask what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." - John F Kennedy

"If you aren't making a difference in other people's lives, you shouldn't be in business." - Richard Branson
