A GROUNDBREAKING EXPERIENCE FOR
INNOVATIVE CHANGEMAKERS!
Organized by the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia in collaboration with Me.reka and Biji-biji Initiative, the inaugural YSEALI Boot Camp is a nationwide impact initiative seeking to match innovative solutions to local challenges.
This is your chance to bring your community’s issues to light and leverage available resources via our program to catalyze real change in the real world. Limited to only 50 participants per state, a total of 16 finalists throughout Malaysia will be selected to bring their ideas to life!

- 18 to 35 years old at the time of application
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential
- Mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful, and inquisitive
- Demonstrate interest, knowledge, or professional experience in at least one of the areas of Education, Sustainable Development, Civic Engagement and
Social Entrepreneurship; - Demonstrate a commitment or interest in community service, volunteerism, or mentorship
- Individuals from underserved communities, including indigenous groups, and people with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply
- Preference will be given to candidates from underserved communities and also to candidates with no previous YSEALI experience

PRIZES
Only 2 groups from each location will be awarded a project grant of RM2,000 to kick-start and implement their solutions. A total of 16 awarded groups will be given the opportunity to present their final projects at the finale camp in Kuala Lumpur.
After the completion of each state’s boot camp, all 16 winners will be mentored by the YSEALI Boot Camp organizers, NGOs, and social enterprises for 3 months. Everyone can collaborate and solve the community issue together!

BOOT CAMP PARTICIPANTS
The regional boot camps will be held at universities (click here).
The finale will take place at Me.reka in Kuala Lumpur.
You will be assigned to teams during the boot camp; but registrations are on an individual basis only.
You might want to bring a laptop and the right attitude! You’ll be provided with printed and digital materials and necessary stationery.
Transportation will only be provided for finalists to and from the venue of the finale.
The program you are applying for is highly competitive. Out of more than 7,000 YSEALI members, we will select only 400 to participate. If for any reason you won’t be able to attend the boot camp let us know as soon as possible and your place will be given to another participant.
No, the program and YSEALI membership are completely free of charge.
IMPACT ORGANIZATIONS
Unfortunately, we are only able to accept 2 impact partners per location. Applications will be considered based on the needs and impact of solving the organizational challenge put forward.
If you are in doubt if the work you do qualifies, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us here to start a conversation with the YSEALI Bootcamp team.
If your organization is selected, we will contact you to discuss the challenge that you will be presenting to participants for the boot camp. This is to ensure that the boot camp runs smoothly and productively for all parties involved!
During 2-day boot camp, your organization should attend all activities and actively participate in the exercises.
Upon selecting the finalists, your organization is committed to mentor them and provide any required assistance in implementing their project.
You’ll be provided with printed and digital materials of the program as well as all necessary stationery. Bring your laptop for additional convenience.
No, the application process is free of charge, and selected organizations will be granted by honorarium.
F&B will be catered for the entire duration of the boot camps.
